Cameras Not Working Properly?
You are not alone if you find you security camera system (CCTV) wasn’t working properly the one time you really needed it.
If you’re like most people, you checked your cameras regularly when it was first installed, but as time passed, you checked it less often. Now it’s only checked when you need some video from it, and it is highly likely that the images aren't as good as you thought they were.
Common Maintenance Issues
Some of the things you will likely find have changed from when you first installed your cameras include:
- The camera has moved and is looking at the wrong spot
- Blurry images
- Too dark or too bright
- Not recording at all
- Items in the office have been moved, blocking the view
- Bushes have grown and are blocking the view
Here Are Some Ways We Can Help You Ensure Your Security Cameras Are Working
I have found that most of my clients are not aware of how much their security camera images have changed since they were first installed because it happens slowly over time. Things like dust settling on the camera lens, cameras getting knocked off position (sometimes intentionally) and objects blocking the scene are common problems. On top of this are technical issues affecting recording, storage time and remote access.
Maintenance at least every 6 month
Having your cameras maintained at least every 6 months is recommended but more frequently may be required in some environments. (Ask me about the camera watching the luxury yachts get vandalised, where the guard saw nothing) Additionally we recommend you check all cameras are recording at least every 2 weeks as sometimes things do fail.
